Blogmas Day 8: 5 DIY Christmas Decorations

DIY Christmas decorations are cheap and super fun to make. You can make them with kids, your significant other, parents or just on your own! Some of them are really incredible, so get making!

1. Paper snowflakes
These are super easy to make for anybody. Obviously with children you have to be careful with scissors but they could even tell you where to put the cuts. All you have to do is cut out a square with paper, fold it diagonally in half and keep folding it to make triangles. Then put cuts in it and you should end up with something pretty like the photograph below!

2. DIY wrapping paper
All you need is brown (or white) paper, paint, a potato and a knife. You just have to cut the design you want into the potato, put some paint on it and get creative! Like the photograph below. You could even get more creative, use your finger print to create Christmas lights on the paper or reindeers.

3. Pine cone angels
Get outside for a walk and collect some pine cones. Once you have these, you can spray paint them, paint them or just leave them as they are. You can then use a tiny bauble as the angels head. This will need to be glued on to the pine cone and a face drawn onto it. You can then put a ribbon on her to look like her wings if you wish. Then you have it, a DIY Christmas decoration! Like the photograph below.

4. Stick Christmas tree
Again, get out for a walk again, collect a bunch of different length sticks. You will need thread, glue and decorations for the tree. You could either use thread and tie the sticks onto it or you could use ribbon and glue them onto it. Then you can glue on the decorations.

5. Paper chains
There really isnt anything easier than paper chains. Absolutely anyone can make them. All you need is paper which you can decorate yourself with paint, or patterned paper, you cut it into strips and tape it together, easy as that!

  1. Love these ideas. I am going to try and make my own wrapping of sorts this year that is recyclable. Loving that stick tree though!
