Blogmas Day 3: Things I Am Grateful For This Christmas

Christmas really is a time when I realise how lucky I actually am. Winter is extremely cold, even for us with a roof over our heads and logs to put on a fire. But there are people out there without a home to go to or a fire to light when they are cold. I think Christmas is definitely a holiday for giving. Most of us have everything we need and want. There are loads of people a lot less fortunate than us, so I think it is really important to show gratitude for what you have. So, here are some things that I am really grateful for!

The thing I am most thankful for is my family and friends. Without them I would be nothing. Having such amazing people around me is such a blessing and I realise that some people dont get that so I feel very lucky to have such an incredible support system around me.

Emily, my girlfriend is someone I am incredibly thankful for. Since the moment she walked in my life she has supported me and made sure I was okay and I felt safe every moment she could. She has hugged me tight when I have been down and she has encouraged and taught me to open up about my feelings. She has loved me more than anyone ever has and we have shared some of the best memories together, I am so grateful for her.

I am incredibly thankful for all of my senses: sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell. Some people are not as lucky as I am and lose one or two of these senses which must be the scariest and isolating thing ever. Although my sight isnt the best and I have to wear glasses, I am thankful that I can put a pair of glasses on and be able to see.

Music is something that I have heavily relied on for years. Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato are my main source of happiness. Their lyrics speak to me and their voices are incredible. I am thankful that I discovered the both of them when I did so I have had many years of happiness and growing with them. I have been able to see their music develop and change over the years and it has been the most amazing journey. To have been able to see both of these incredible humans who have undoubtedly kept me alive, I feel incredibly grateful for, let alone being at the barrier for them both. I just hope that one day I can meet them both and thank them for everything.

I am so grateful for animals who bring the diversity to life. Animals are the most precious things on this earth. They know when you're poorly or upset and they comfort you. They are the most adorable things and we are lucky to have them.

The things we take for granted are things like: a roof over our heads, clean drinking water, having food to eat and health care. I am extremely grateful for all of these. I realise how lucky we are to have all these alone, let alone all the extras we are lucky enough to have. My family is lucky to have a spacious house to live in. It might not be the biggest in town but we love it. It shelters us from the cold, keeps us all together and that is all that matters. More than 10% of the worlds population dont have access to clean water. We do, we live in a town where we have access to an endless source of disease free, clean water that we dont even have to think about, therefore we are incredibly lucky. Health care is something people definitely take for granted. I am grateful for medication because my tablets allow me to feel happier and better about myself.

There are so many things to be grateful for so please dont be sad that you didnt get that game you wanted or you didnt get any money. Be grateful for what you have. Life is the best present you got!
