Zip World: Fforest Coasters

The Fforest Coaster is the only Alpine Coaster of it's kind in UK. It is so much fun for all the family with this thrilling new adventure!

The Fforest Coaster is based on the traditional toboggan but runs on rails, which offers an all year, all-weather experience.  Start your journey in the heart of the woodland, taking your sledge on your own or in pairs, and travel on the uplift through the trees.  You will then fly through the forest at exhilarating speeds!

The Fforest Coaster adventure was the one that I was the most scared for, due to you having to control the speed yourself and being alone on the journey (a combined weight of 150 and you can ride together!). When we arrived, the queue wasnt that long anyway and we were probably waiting about 3 minutes for each go. It is super safe because you are plugged into a seat belt and you can apply the brakes at any time by yourself. Initially, it takes a while to get up to the top, which is actually a nice ride as you dont have to do anything, you can just relax for a bit by yourself and take in the views. If you dont hold the brakes on, it is super fast, which I was not expecting. Once your go is over, you have to go and re queue for your next go. I actually really enjoyed it.

Pre-booking is highly recommended to avoid disappointment.

The Fforest Coaster is a queuing based adventure. Please be aware that during busy times (especially weekends and school holidays) your first of three runs may take up to 30 minutes to start after the time of the session you have booked. All three of your runs may take up to 90 minutes to complete. During off peak times please give 30-60 minutes to complete your three runs. For safety reasons, after your first and second runs you are asked to disembark from your sledge and re-join the queue. During wet weather condition’s it is likely to take longer to complete all three of your runs due to additional spacing required between the release of sleds.

Riders between 3 and 8 years old must be accompanied on the same sledge by 1 participating adult or child aged 9+ that is over 1.35m tall.

Length of adventure
  • 365 m uplift
  • 710 m down
Top speeds

  • There is a lockable seat belt system which is active as soon as you start at the bottom.
  • The self-braking system and distance control system limits maximum speed and keeps the distance in between the sledges.

Zip World: Bounce Below

Zip World Bounce Below is where thrill seekers aged 7 and up get a shot of pure fun in a spectacular setting deep underground. Children between the ages of 7 and 12 years must be accompanied by a participating adult and be at least 1.2m tall. Children between the ages of 13 and 18 years must be accompanied by a spectating adult.

The breath-taking site, in a former slate mine in Blaenau Ffestiniog, North Wales, lets you play, slide, jump and bounce from net to net in a cavern the size of a cathedral.

Following a massive refurbishment in 2016, the Bounce Below experience now offers four new industrial slides, the height of two double decker buses and six new levels of bouncing fun, giving underground adventurers 400 additional square metres to explore.

Visitors enter a network of enormous caverns hidden underground, once home to a working Victorian mine, and now brought back to life as the only subterranean playground of its kind, offering a unique adventure in a beautiful and historic location.

Bounce below was mine and Emily's 2nd adventure of the day. When you arrive you are handed a hair net and a helmet and are given a safety talk and you're off. It was surprisingly hot underground so you deffinitely wont be needing a jumper! All of the levels at bounce below are easily accessable with slides to go down and staires to go up or down, but you are advised to use the slides if possible! There are balls and things on different levels for extra fun whilst you bounce.

Terms and conditions:
The activity is based in an underground cavern where the temperature is approximately 10 °C. You need to wear suitable clothing that covers your arms and legs, preferably old garments in the likelihood of dirt/damage occurring. For Bounce Below, you will need to wear trainers. Open toe shoes, flip flops, sandals or similar footwear are not permitted.

Long hair should be tied back, all jewellery and scarves to be removed and skirts are not recommended.

Zip World reserves the right to refuse admittance should appropriate clothing not be worn.

People with weak, injured or previously injured ankles should not take part in Bounce Below activities.

Prices:
£25 per person if you're 18 years and over
£20 per person if you're 7 to 17 years old
£75 Bounce Below Family of 4 pass
£5 per spectator

Zip World: Titan

Titan is the ultimate group zipping experience, as it has 4 zip lines, meaning you can go down with your family or friends at the same time. You can even get the group of 4 ticket so 4 of you can go down for only £180.

Titan is currently the largest zip zone in Europe. Zipping in a seated position, you are blessed with stunning views over Blaenau Ffestiniog and down the valley ahead.

Zip World Titan encompasses three zip lines - Alfa, Bravo and Charlie. Each rider travels over 2,000m. The total length of the zip lines is over 8,000m! Which is available all year round.

Riders are taken by vehicle to the start of the first zip line, Alpha - the longest of the three.  There is then a short and scenic walk between the end and start of Bravo zip line. The last zip line, Charlie, takes riders back to Llechwedd Slate Cavern where they started.  This involves flying high over the buildings as you come in to land.

Me and Emily were lucky enough to be able to go on titan, which was such an experience. A mini bus took us up to the top of the 1st of the 3 ziplines and I am not kidding you, all we could see at the top was white. We couldnt even see the end of the zipline. The 1st and the 2nd lines were my favourite of the 3. There was a small walk to the last 2 ziplines but nothing major, it was just a bit steep. Titan was the 1st of 3 of our adventures that day, we then did Bounce Below and the Fforest Coasters, which you can see on my other blog posts.

Participants are supplied with a safety helmet, goggles and a flying suit.

Both winter and summer experiences are weather dependent.  For safety reasons they may introduce amendments to weight restrictions or even adventure postponement. When this is necessary they say that they will provide you with at least 24 hours notice on the status page of their website and will endeavour to notify you by email, text or phone. In such instances a refund will not be given, however you can reschedule your booking within the next 12 months.  Full information on their postponement policy can be found in their T&C's.

Terms and conditions:
Children under the age of 18 years will not be permitted to use any activity unless accompanied by a participating adult at all times.

Prepare for all weather! For the colder days, it is strongly advised that you wear gloves whilst participating and they recommend wearing sensible warm/waterproof clothing. For those warmer summer days, still consider you are in a mountainous environment and temperatures will be significantly lower. However, shoulders must be covered i.e. no strappy vests, and shorts are permitted but must be knee length.

Long hair should be tied back, all jewellery and scarves to be removed and skirts are not recommended.

On your feet, you will need to wear trainers or walking boots - open toe shoes, flip flops, sandals or similar footwear are not permitted.

Zip World reserves the right to refuse admittance should appropriate clothing not be worn.

Prices:
£50 per person
£180 for a group of 4 people

The Meadowsweet Hotel, Llanrwst, Wales

The beautiful Meadowsweet Hotel is a family run hotel in the small, historic market town of Llanrwst, in North Wales. Perfectly located in the heart of the Conwy valley, the Meadowsweet Hotel is very close to the Betws-y-Coed train station so you can get out and about. The hotel is extremely accessable to all and it is very close to many places including Llandudno, Porthmadog, Zipworld, various castles and so many more sights!

The hotel is owned by former 9/11 firefighter, Nelson and Mary Haerr who work tirelessly to look after their guests and to make sure they have the ultimate comfort. They are super friendly and so welcoming, making you feel right at home. They are also the winners of the Channel 4 show, Four In A Bed- and well deserved too.

The Meadowsweet Hotel offers a great accommodation with a range of rooms on offer, with self catering options for large groups as well as the restaurant, Lle Hari, which offers traditional and locally sourced Welsh cooking with the classic American service. They even cater for vegans. A fan of the full English breakfast? The breakfast here is to die for.

All of the bedrooms are individually designed and contemporary, offering comfort and luxury. There are 4 rooms to choose from: a deluxe room, a double room, a twin room and a family room. All are beautiful and kept in pristine condition. Room prices vary depending on the type of room and its size. They offer daily room only rates and B&B rates. We were lucky enough to spend 2 nights in a beautifully furnished room with a four poster bed. The view from our room was incredible also, trees upon trees with the odd horse through massive windows, what more could you want?

The Meadowsweet Hotel offers completely free Wi-Fi as well as free parking for all guests. It is a perfect hotel for anybody, couples, families ect. Even mountain bikers, who can take advantage of the Meadowsweet Hotels bike storage and bike washing facilities- as you can see, they cater for all. If you have any questions, they are more than happy to help and will go out of their way to assure your ultimate comfort and fun.

All bedrooms at the Meadowsweet Hotel are equipped with free Wi-Fi, complimentary tea and coffee making facilities, an en-suite bathroom, a flat screen free view TV, a hairdryer, an iron and an ironing board and bottled water.

My personal favourite part of the hotel was the decoration all around the hotel. Endless mirrors and frames. Every piece is so unique and quirky and it just makes it that bit more special.

Want to make your stay extra special? Champagne, chocolates and flowers on arrival can be arranged, to arrange this you have to give them a call.

If this hotel isnt enough to make you want to visit, the area around is just as beautiful! There are so many incredible things you can do in the areas around this hotel. Surf Snowdonia is a very popular destination in the area. Zip World is also very popular with a few sites spread around, the closest being a 7 minute drive from the hotel with a magnificent view of a waterfall on the way there. GYG go karting is also a winner if you have a family. If you like to test your nerves then Go Below Underground Adventures is definitely for you. If you're a photographer or just like to explore the outdoors then this hotel and area is definitely going to be great for you. With many breath taking waterfalls around the hotel it is certainly beautiful to say the least.
